Specialists in groundwork and excavation since 1984
Company founder, Henry Hanwell, established Mini Excavator Services in October 1984 after working for various companies. Experienced in cottage renovation projects, Henry saw a niche market for small excavators which could fit inside the old buildings to help with floor level reduction, trenching etc.
Investing in a Powerfab 125WT that could fit through doors and along narrow pathways, Henry could offer groundwork machinery that reached the places other contractors couldn’t. There are some pictures of the early days in the Archive section of the Gallery.
A selection of mini excavators to handle any job
As Mini Excavator Services grew, so did our fleet of mini excavators. Keeping the Powerfab for our smallest jobs, we added small tracked machines to help local builders and holiday parks and other businesses with road repairs, caravan bases, extensions, and any groundwork related jobs. Currently, we operate a range of mini excavators from the Hitachi ZX8, which at just under one tonne can fit through a 2’6” doorway, to the Hitachi ZX5OU with zero swing at five tonnes. In addition, there is a selection of attachments to help complete your job with ease, including:
- Pallet forks
- Riddle buckets
- Land rakes
- Ripper hooks
- Cable plough
- Screw piles
- Breakers
- Crushers
